The Big Ten season is half over and while Michigan State has a three-game lead (going into the 2/2 contest at Wisconsin), OSU is still right in the thick of things.

We break down the play of late, including the remarkable season from junior Evan Turner, and talk about the 1960 national championship team’s reunion this past weekend.

Good things appear to be on the horizon for the basketball Bucks.

Jonathan Knight joins me to talk about the show LOST. We break down all five seasons that have already taken place to get you ready for the series’ final season, which begins on ABC Tuesday, Feb. 2.

What do the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42 mean?

How do you keep everything straight? It’s tough, and we don’t even get to break down everything during our hour-long quest to figure it out.

NFL Picks

Fulch has officially won the picks contest for 2009!

He picked both Indy and New Orleans in the conference championship games and has eliminated both Miles and Big Game from contention.

We’ll be setting up a meal on myself for the accomplishment and hopefully we’ll have as good a turnout next season.

Thanks for participating!

All joking aside, McGwire’s interview with Bob Costas was pretty touching. He was pretty convincing in his emotions and maintains he would’ve been able to hit the home runs without steroids.

That could be true, but the problem is this; he admits to doing the steroids to help his failing health. That’s fine, but if he didn’t do that, would he have gotten back to a place health-wise where he could’ve done it?

How many people, Barry Larkin included, didn’t do those things to help in recovery from injuries and could’ve gone on to do more in the game?

NFL Picks

The Wild Card weekend is over and so is this fan’s season as far as his favorite team goes.

The Bengals faded at the end, but it was still a memorable season following a 4-11-1 campaign. Here’s hoping they can reload and do better next year!

The following are the standings after the first round, with the three guys who tied in the regular season listed first. They’ll keep battling it out through the Super Bowl.

Chris “Big Game” Galoski joins me to break down/celebrate the Ohio State Rose Bowl victory.

We talk about the game, and preview next season, because, you know, it’s never too early to preview next season — yes, we both realize it’s nine months away!

First off, congrats to the Buckeyes for getting the monkey off their back! Rose Bowl champs, and in the immortal words of all those who came before, “They can’t take it away from” them…because really, who would try, except the NCAA?

NFL Picks

We had quite a bit of activity in the final week of the regular season and the improbable result is a three-way tie for the overall championship.

Big Game made a furious charge with a 14-2 week — he won the week and the extra point by nailing the overall score exactly at 37, while Adman and JMB also had 14 and picked 35, so close!

Big Game’s run puts him in a flat-footed tie — I guess that’s even more of a tie than just a “tie” — with Miles and Fulch for the overall pick-em championship.

Because the CPA didn’t budget enough funds for a three-person free lunch, the trio will fight to the death in a playoffs pick-em. I invite all participants to take part, but only these three can win the overall title — we’ll pick every game in the postseason and they’ll pick an overall score for the Super Bowl. I’ll even make sure they’re different numbers and we’ll see who comes out on top!

I’m secretly rooting for Fulch because I haven’t seen him since college, but that won’t change the fact that, to the best of my ability, I’ll add up the scores correctly.

If you missed the Monday night game between the Vikings and Bears, you didn’t see the show that exhibited everything there is to love and hate about old man Brett Favre all in one night.

He showed his inability to play in cold weather, his ability to get hot when he absolutely needs to and his “take my ball and go home” childishness upon being sacked on back-to-back plays in overtime — no Brett, it’s not very mature of you to spike the ball into your O-lineman’s groin after he just caused you to get driven into the frozen ground.

Anyway, we had a big tie with 11 total wins in a pretty up and down week overall for picks. Crazed Wolverine picked a total score of 42, coming closest to the real overall score of 66, and became yet another multiple-week winner and keeps the possibility of sweeping his fellow Gagnons alive.

Go Chris!

Miles holds a lead as we head into the final week. Lunch is on the line, folks.

We’re back after a hiatus that included a trip to The Bahamas, where I was eaten by bugs and had to go on steroids, but that’s a topic for another show…

Anyway, longtime friend Andy Loth joins the program. Andy and I called the 2000 Ohio State-Purdue game together at Purdue. That’s the one that included a great drive at the end of the game for what looked like an Ohio State win, only to be disrupted when some guy named Drew Brees threw a 65-yard TD pass to Seth Morales.

But today we’re talking Rose Bowl, and what OSU needs to do to get the job done. I’m on the record, in print, as saying Ohio State will win 27-24, but after talking to Andy I’m convinced the Ducks will fail to score over 20 points. Mark it down!

NFL Picks

We had another win from Will Will, not to mention that Teddy, who grew sick of losing to Nora Peanut every week, finally found a strategy he liked — Teddy picked the team whose city came first in the alphabet this week, with the exception of Cincinnati-San Diego, because he refuses to pick the Bengals.

NFL Picks

Just a few weeks remain in the NFL picks and things are still up for grabs, although one guy has a decent enough lead.

Three pickers had 13 games correct, but The Trashman came closest to the overall score of 34, with 44 — Chjm70 had 45 and JMB 48.
