First, what a game last night from the Cincinnati Bengals defense!

Those guys played like they haven’t played since, uh well, since before I was in middle school.

It was almost like the Indianapolis Colts D last season. When the Colts entered the playoffs everyone thought the only way they could make it to the Super Bowl would be if Peyton Manning put up monster numbers. Instead, the offense struggled at times and the defense came up huge, catapulting them to the Super Bowl.

This isn’t quite to the same level, of course, but all last season, and all preseason this year, these Bengals were woeful with tackling and covering the pass. It was embarrassing to watch, but last night the guys hit hard, they made plays, Marvin Lewis allowed them to blitz, and blitz often and they came up big when it mattered most, with a goal-line stand that seemed to span over four minutes.

It sounded like a great atmosphere at the game and it certainly was a great time in the man cave, in full HD of course!

NFL Picks

Here’s where the good times stop rolling, for me anyway. After a woeful start to the first week’s picks, I rallied to pick the last seven games correctly. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to top even my sister, Jessica, who added her picks to the fray.

Here are the Week One standings, with Brian leading the way and getting an extra point for winning the week.

Brian 15-2
Jessica 13-3
Big Game 12-4
The CPA 10-6
Seth 9-7
