Are You Ready For Some (NFL) Football?

The CPA and I have picked NFL games against one another for several years.

It started as a way to get her into the football season, especially since I was going to be watching the NFL each Sunday anyway. She wanted to have a reason to watch and creating a little competition between the two of us was a good way to make that happen.

Last year we included Big Game and Brian in the competition with the idea that the winner would get a free lunch at the end of the season.

Sadly for the three sports writers, the CPA came out on top.

Seriously, she did. Really, stop laughing!

It was a sad time for us, but we’re back this year with the added pressure that we’ll be posting our picks on this site weekly.

It’s really quite simple. We pick each game, with no point spreads involved.

The winner of a given week gets an extra point. Because of that we make the last game of the weekend, usually the Monday Night game, a tiebreaker by assigning a total point value to that game.

So if I go 12-4 in a given week and everyone else is behind me, my record is 13-4 for the week.

Here are the Week One games we’ll choose from:

Thursday
New Orleans at Indianapolis

Sunday
Denver at Buffalo
Pittsburgh at Cleveland
Philadelphia at Green Bay
Carolina at St. Louis
Atlanta at Minnesota
New England at NY Jets
Miami at Washington
Tennessee at Jacksonville
Kansas City at Houston
